Avatar 2
Director of Avatar: The Way of Water James Cameron has compared the familial tale of the next sequel to that of the legendary HBO crime thriller The Sopranos.
In a conversation with Total Film, Cameron made the startling analogy. “Oh my God, a Disney family story?” others exclaim. Just what we need This isn’t the type of family tale they tell, “he said.
This is a family narrative in the same way that The Sopranos is a family drama. With Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) now parenting their five children, Avatar: The Way of Water picks up more than ten years after the events of the first movie in the series.
The initial Avatar: The Way of Water screenplay, which Cameron called “a hell of a read,” was also discussed in the same interview. Despite being engaging, the unproduced sequel’s script, according to the Academy Award-winning director, didn’t succeed since it didn’t take the plot in a surprising turn.
The screenplay was eventually killed off because, according to Cameron, it “didn’t play sufficiently by Avatar standards” to make a satisfactory sequel to the first film. Instead, the Avatar: High Ground graphic book series was created using the original Avatar: The Way of Water script.

James Cameron Might Ruin Avatars 4 and 5
The possibility that Cameron would cancel Avatar 4 and 5 in favor of condensing the series into a trilogy has also been verified. The filmmaker asserts that the success of Avatar: The Way of Water at the box office will determine if this occurs.
“The market may be telling us we’re done in three months, or we might be halfway done, which would indicate, “Okay, let’s finish the tale inside movie three, and not continue on forever,” if it’s just not lucrative,” he added.
The success of the sequel will depend on “how many people give a crap” about the moviegoing experience in 2022, according to Cameron, who also observed that the film business has undergone significant change since the 2009 release of Avatar.
The director undoubtedly seems committed to giving people who do go to Avatar: The Way of Water screenings the most value for their money.
The blockbuster is allegedly over three hours long—more than 29 minutes longer than the first film.
On Dec. 16, Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in cinemas in a variety of formats, including IMAX, IMAX 3D, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema.
